STEAR Meet the Ambassador (30th of September 2021)

[For information]

To all HKU law students

I am writing on behalf of the Student Think Tank for Europe-Asia Relations (STEAR) to inform you about one of our upcoming events that may be of interest to your institution and we would be grateful if you could share this with your network should that be the case:

STEAR (www.stearthinktank.com) aims to be the first and leading youth policy institute strengthening relations and deepening cultural ties all over Europe and Asia.

We will be hosting our next STEAR Dialogue on the 30th of September, 12 noon (Central European Summer Time). The STEAR Dialogue is our event series format which invites high level speakers under the broad umbrella of international relations across Eurasia to engage with our youth audience in an interactive question-and-answer format. We will focus on more personal, experience-oriented and diverse themes including career development, advice for young people, culture, activism and more. This time, we’re in conversation with His Excellency Josef Rychtar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Islamic Republic of Iran, who will share his personal insights and experiences in international diplomacy.

About Our Guest:

  • Josef Rychtar is the current Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Islamic Republic of Iran and has been active in this role since March 2020. He joined the Czech diplomatic service after receiving a PhD (1985) in Applied Geophysics awarded by the Charles University in Prague, and studying at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (1994). Having worked as Acting Director for the Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since 1996 he has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Kuwait, Colombia and Ecuador, the Philippines, Palau, Federative States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Nauru, Chile and Bolivia. He has also been appointed Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department (2007-2009), and of the Foreign Policy Planning Department (2018-2020) of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please register through the following link: https://www.stearthinktank.com/events and join us on September 30th! We would be delighted to have you and look forward to the questions you have for our speaker.

Let us know if you no longer wish to keep receiving these emails about STEAR’s events and opportunities.

Best wishes,

Daniel
