The 1st Financial Dispute Resolution Centre Arbitration Moot is organised by the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC) to enhance public understanding of the benefits of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and promotes a culture of proactive engagement with ADR mechanisms among the public. The FDRC is a non-profit making company supported by the Government, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Future Commission. It offers professional dispute resolution services for financial disputes, with a “Mediation First, Arbitration Next” approach. It is committed to the principles of independence, impartiality, accessibility, efficiency, and transparency in service provision.
The Moot will be held on 7-8 November 2026 (Saturday and Sunday) at Justice Place, West Wing, 2/F. This inaugural event aims to promote excellence in arbitration advocacy and financial dispute resolution among law students. The tenetative features of the competition are as follows:
– Participation by university teams from Hong Kong, Macau and the Greater Bay Area (maximum 4 students per team)
– Preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds
– Cash prizes for Champion, and Best Advocate (subject to confirmation)
– Certificates of Participation for all team members

– Date: 7-8 November 2026

– Registration Fee: HK$2,500 per team (HK$2,300 early bird, deadline TBC)
– Format: Each team will argue as both Claimant and Respondent
– Scoring System: Highest scoring teams advance through each round
