Conference Invitation: Young Indo-Pacific – Forward-looking perspectives on the EU Indo-Pacific Strategy (26-28 November 2021)

I’m writing to you on the behalf of STEAR, the world’s first Europe-Asia Student Think Tank established in 2021. Our organisation, together with Polis180 and European Guanxi, would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming Youth Conference. We would be very grateful if you could share this with your network.

Young Indo Pacific – Forward-looking perspectives on the EU Indo-Pacific Strategy

In this event, the three organizing think tanks – STEAR, Polis180 and European Guanxi -, with support from Agora, Foraus, Boyma Institut, Australia China Youth Association, Waseda IR Association, The Young SEAkers Cambodia Chapter and the Open ThinkTank Network, will host multiple panel discussions on topics regarding the European Union’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, taking place across three days, from 26-28 November.

The Youth Conference aims to promote a broader understanding of the EU’s interactions with the Indo-Pacific region, and to look ahead at the direction in which key relationships between the EU and Indo-Pacific States will go. More importantly, we hope to give students and young professionals a voice in international politics and foster a new platform for a more enhanced Asia-Europe cooperation.

We aim to discuss the newly announced strategy of the European Union, promote a broader understanding of the EU’s interactions with stakeholders in the region, give students and young professionals from both regions a voice in international politics and foster a new platform for enhanced Asia-Europe cooperation.

The panels:

  2. Panel : Climate Change and Green Recovery
  3. Panel : Technology and Digitisation
  4. Panel : Human Rights and Migration
  5. Panel : Trade and beyond

Furthermore, after the panels, there will be a workshop for participants to collect opinions and brainstorm ideas based on the issue areas discussed, culminating in a joint communique which will be issued by our organisations and presented to EU policymakers in December 2021.
